Frequently Asked Questions
Can you match my existing tile?
We can try. Send a photo to office@batistatiles.com and we'll do our best to source a match. Discontinued tile is difficult — in some cases we may recommend a creative solution like a deliberate accent border that makes the repair look intentional rather than patched.
What causes shower tile to fail?
The most common cause is inadequate waterproofing behind the tile. Water gets through grout joints, saturates the substrate, and eventually makes its way through the system, causing tiles to delaminate or the surrounding walls and structure to rot. In our experience, approximately 70% of shower failures require full replacement — most waterproofing systems cannot be repaired once they've been compromised. We'll assess honestly and tell you which situation you're in before any work begins.
Do you use dustless tools?
Yes. We use a combination of dustless cutting tools, HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, and exhaust systems to keep job sites as dust-free as possible. In occupied homes, we protect surrounding surfaces with plastic sheeting before any work begins. On qualifying jobs, we can isolate the room entirely and create a negative pressure environment — a powerful exhaust system continuously pulls air from inside the work area to the outside of the house, preventing dust from migrating to other rooms in your home.
Is tile repair worth it or should I retile the whole area?
Depends on the scope. A few cracked tiles in a dry area are easy and cost-effective to repair. A failing shower or a floor with widespread hollow tile usually warrants a full redo — patching the surface without fixing the underlying problem just delays the inevitable and, often times, aggravates it. Call/email us to schedule a consultation and we'll give you an honest assessment.
