Custom Tile Shower Installation on Cape Cod & the Islands

Custom showers are where craftsmanship and waterproofing systems meet. Batista Tile builds high-end custom tile showers for builders and contractors across Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and Plymouth County — with proper waterproofing on every job, no shortcuts.

What's Included in a Batista Tile Custom Shower

  • Full substrate preparation and waterproofing membrane (Schluter KERDI, LATICRETE Hydro Ban, or equivalent).

  • Custom tile layout — floor, walls, ceiling if specified, Built-in tile niches, benches, decorative accents, special designs and layouts, and shelves.

  • Mitered edges and precision detail work.

  • Linear or center square drains.

  • Shower door supply and installation.

Why Waterproofing Matters

A beautiful shower that leaks is worse than no shower at all. Every Batista Tile shower is waterproofed using industry-leading membrane systems before a single tile goes up. We test before we tile. Your clients will never call you back about a leaking shower.

Shower Styles We Build

  • Walk-in showers — open, curbless, or with low threshold.

  • Steam showers — fully sealed with continuous waterproofing.

  • Tub-shower combinations.

  • Master bath wet rooms.

  • Spa-style showers with multiple showerheads and body sprays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What waterproofing system do you use?

We primarily use LATICRETE Hydro Ban systems combined with Johns Manville's GoBoard waterproof wall boards, and Schluter KERDI. These are industry-standard, code-compliant, and carry manufacturer warranties. We select the appropriate system based on the substrate, shower size, and steam or non-steam application.

Can you install a curbless (zero-threshold) shower?

Yes. Curbless showers require careful slope planning and often a recessed floor pan, creating a seamless transition between the bathroom and shower that improves aesthetics and eliminates trip hazards.

We go beyond industry standard on every curbless shower. Rather than waterproofing just the shower area, we treat the entire floor as a wet room — waterproofing the full tiled floor surface and running the membrane 3.5 inches up the perimeter walls. It's more work upfront, and it's what prevents water damage years down the road.

Do you supply and install shower glass doors?

Yes. We supply and install frameless and semi-frameless glass shower enclosures. See our Shower Glass Doors page for full details.

How long does a custom shower take to build?

A standard custom shower typically takes 5-7 days from substrate prep to final grout. Larger or more complex showers may take longer. We'll give you a precise timeline with your estimate.

Can you match existing tile in a renovation?

We can try, but tile batches vary. For the best result, we recommend choosing new tile for the full shower rather than attempting an exact match on a partial replacement.
